Can’t checkin from Visual Studio using version version 2003.2-54310 of P4SCC
I first noticed this problem with the beta version of
2003.2 P4SCC and now suspect it’s a configuration problem peculiar to my setup.
I am unable to check files in from Visual Studio .NET 2003. I can view pending checkins normally, but when I click “Check In”, I get this dialog box with all controls disabled except the close box.
What should be happening and why might this be happening?

I’m installing the latest 2003.2 release which includes the admin, client, scc and other pieces. Which I downloaded on 2004-03-08. I’d previously tried the beta scc with similar results and had gone back to the 2003.1 version of the scc only. With no immediate response from the community I assumed it had to be working and dug in a bit deeper.
Normally I run with the database/depot files under “c:\p4” and the client/admin installation under “c:\Program Files\Perforce”. So after installing and telling it to put the server with the client under Program Files it is necessary to use a “p4 set –s P4ROOT=c:\p4” command to get the service tied to the database. P4Win works great. The only problem is the SCC.
I uninstalled Perforce and reinstalled it with all the defaults and an empty database in “c:\Program Files\Perforce” and the SCC worked fine.
I uninstalled and reinstalled everything into “c:\P4” (moving my original database out of the way) and the SCC worked fine.
If in either location I replace the database/depot files with my original files, the SCC no longer works but everything else seems to be happy.
So I bit the bullet, assumed there was something peculiar about my database and re-imported my sources into a new database. Not ideal but it keeps me going. So far so good.
